About Show Jumping

Show jumping within the Pony Club is one of the core disciplines associated with almost every aspect of riding and we introduce children and their pony’s to show jumping at very early age. If a child and pony do not get comfortable with jumping then it will make it very difficult for them to enjoy all of the types of disciplines they will get exposure to during their journey through the Pony Club.

Jean Errity is head of Show Jumping for 2011. This year we hope to build and develop show jumping in our branch. We would like to establish a member's team again and encourage and progress the under 12 team. We will continue the foundation work already established with our Robbie Bailey and John Ledingham teams and hopefully bring home some silverware this year!

Negotiations are ongoing with new and exciting team trainers. We hope to have experienced and expert trainers available to give clinics and also teach at rallies. Details to follow soon.

KHPC Competitions/ Training

Will appear in your monthly schedule distributed by KHPC secretary and you book in the normal fashion with the organiser of the rally/competition.

IPC Championships

The IPC finals are held at the Annual PC Championships generally in August and to compete at his event there are area (the IPC is divided into areas with a number of Pony Clubs assigned to each area, KHPC is area 2) qualifiers held during the month of July and from these qualifiers individuals and teams are sent to the Championships. (Careful holiday planning is necessary here as July/August is the peak holiday season!!!!!! Be warned). The winning team in the Senior Showjumpimg Championship will qualify to compete in Sansaw Park in the UK Pony Club Championship in that year.

The Show jumping classic league is held over a series of shows culminating in the league final, there are two categories 1.10m class and a 1.20m class. This league is normally held in the Autumn and is held indoors with a very substantial bursary going to the winning rider in the 1.20m Class

The table below outlines the type of show jumping available at different age groups (note this is only a GUIDE). The table is broken into KHPC(Kildare Hunt Pony Club) and Irish Pony Club(IPC).
